Your files

PDFs and images are processed on your device, inside your browser. We do not upload your files, filenames, page previews or recognized text to a server. The tool needs no account.

The working document and the generated download stay in browser memory. Starting another file, resetting the tool or closing the tab clears that working document. Files you download are saved wherever your browser saves downloads.

Storage on your device

The browser may cache the OCR engine and English language model so they load faster next time. These are public software files, not your document. Our analytics SDK stores a random visit identifier in local storage. You can clear both by clearing this site's browser data.

Basic usage analytics

We use our own analytics service to understand how many people use the tool. A page visit sends a random identifier, the page path and the referring website. The service retains the referring domain, the country derived from the connection, and the browser, operating system and device type.

Our analytics service does not retain IP addresses or the full user agent. Records are deleted after 40 days. Analytics never include document contents, filenames, recognized text or previews.

Hosting

Cloudflare serves the website and its public engine files. It receives standard connection information needed to deliver those files. Your selected file is processed locally and is not sent to Cloudflare for OCR.
