Same page. More useful.
We add invisible text behind your scan. The result looks familiar, and your PDF viewer can finally find the words.
Bring a scan.
A PDF, a screenshot, a photo of a page. Choose one file to get started.
Give it searchable text.
Printed English becomes an invisible text layer. Everything happens in your browser.
Download the difference.
Open the PDF in your usual viewer. Search for a word, select a sentence, copy a passage.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your PDF or image and its recognized text are processed in your browser. Resetting the tool or closing the tab clears the working document. Basic page-visit analytics never include file contents or filenames.
Which files work best?
Clear scans of printed English work best. Choose a PDF, PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 50 MB. PDFs may have up to 150 pages; images may have up to 20 megapixels and 8192 pixels on either side. A single image becomes a one-page PDF, with camera orientation respected and a white background behind transparency. OCR can make mistakes on faint scans and handwriting. Password-protected and signed PDFs need an unlocked, unsigned copy.
What if a PDF already has text?
We skip a page that already has selectable text to avoid duplicates. If it combines selectable text and a scanned image, text inside that image will not receive OCR. You can see the skipped page numbers before processing.
